What is a .SRT file?

A .SRT file is one of the most used file formats for subtitling video. This format is one of the most known, together to .SUB and .SSA ones.

Could you upload other file than .SRT? Not yet.

How to see the subtitles?

This subtitles files and the video are separated files, you have to put both into the same directory. The next step is to rename the subtitles file to match the file name of the video (.AVI for example), but the extension must be .SRT (or .SSA, .SUB...)

Windows Media Player can understand .SRT subtitles files but VobSub plugin would be required for see them better, or one of this video players: VLC, BSPlayer.

Here is an example of video subtitles:

Power of translation?

Imagine the power of hundreds of people translating text simultaneously, just 20 users could translate a subtitles SRT file of 1374 lines (The Matrix) in 15 minutes. Fast translation with no hard work.

What is Karma?

Karma is the quantity of yourself you want to spend for this project :-) It's a ethereal mathematical algorithm calculated with your received positive/negative users' votes, so be careful when translating text. It's between 0 and 100.

Anonymous translations has no karma, so registered users can translate already anonymously translated text. Uploading fakes srt files will have negative users' votes and your karma will go down fast.

Karma exists both for files and lines too. This is the translation quality for a file, can be modified by users' votes.

A message No pending text for your Karma in random translations section means there's no text you can translate for your Karma level, and that's nice.

What is Karma useful for?

Karma helps to keep the quality as high as possible. Only highest Karma users can translate already translated text by lower level Karma users, therefore translations are made by the best translators.

Why does "random translations" section exist?

Random text translation helps to avoid reading spoilers. This helps to make bigger the number of contributions.

Uploading files...

At least one SRT file is required. These files take part of the movie/tv series.

It can be used for referencing CDs #, splitted files, episodes, etc...

Fill the form and select the files to upload.

Don't forget it, people can vote positive/negative any file you uploaded, so your karma can be modified.

For typing titles try to follow these examples:

(Movies)
The Matrix: Reloaded
Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers (2CD version)
Star Wars: Phantom Menace
Children Of Men (Trailer)
The Exorcist (Director's Cut)
V (Complete Season 1)

(TV Series episodes, specify both season and episode in boxes behind)
House
Lost
Prison Break

¿What does S01E01 (or 1x01) mean?

Sometimes we can find TV series' names near to these rare letters. It's the season and episode data for that chapter.

For example, S02E15 (or 2x15) means season 2 and episode 15.

Translatable and untranslatable projects...

When you upload a project, it can be translatable or untranslatable.

If you uncheck translatable, nobody will translate the project, so that project just can be downloaded.

This option exists to avoid overloading the system with projects that no need to be translated.

What is RSS?

RSS is a system for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites. This site supports it.

You can stay informed of new projects upload, finished translated files and something like that...

What about private projects? (In development...)

In the future, a private project would be translated by you and your friends only, but it can be downloaded by everybody.
